Susan Beck serves as the pastor of the Community of St. Dysmas, the Lutheran churches within the walls of the Maryland state prison system,   which includes vibrant, faith-filled congregations, currently active at MCIJ in Jessup, MCIW in Jessup,. MCTC in Hagerstown, and CMCF in Sykesville. I never expected that ministry would take me “behind bars,” but I’m finding that that’s exactly where the gospel is—the message of God’s grace given freely in Jesus transforms the lives of our incarcerated siblings in Christ.  That’s a joy!
